Walter Benjamin described his later writings as Denkbilder, "thought figures." This is certainly the case with his "Berlin Childhood around 1900."

While in Berlin, July 2013 and February 2016, I made a series of photographs tracing the places he referenced in "Childhood." My intent is not documentary photography, but denkfotografie.
